One Person Arrested for Allegedly Killing Queen Mother at Nungua

Nungua: One person has appeared before the Teshie District Court for the murder of Naa Borley Nelson, also known as Naa Gamu, a queen mother of the Ga Adangme Muslim Union. Samuel Adjei is currently being held for unlawful possession of firearms and murder.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Court did not take the plea of Adjei but has remanded him into police custody. He is scheduled to reappear on March 12. The adjournment is intended to allow the Police to conduct further investigations and prepare a duplicate docket for the Attorney General’s advice.

The tragic incident occurred during the queen mother’s enskinment ceremony in Nungua, Accra, when a musket being fired as part of the celebrations accidentally struck her in the thigh.
