Only cultural events, shows and tourist festivities are authorised at Habib Bourguiba Avenue (Tunis Governor)

Tunis Governor Kamel Feki announced that all protests staged by political parties at the Habib Bourguiba Avenue downtown Tunis will be banned.

This avenue will now be dedicated to only cultural events, shows and tourist festivities, the Tunis governorate indicates in a press release.

Political and other protests will be shifted to the Human Rights Square and other public places on the Mohamed V Avenue, the same source added.

Since 2011, the Habib Bourguiba Avenue, especially the area around the municipal theatre, has been the venue for protests staged by political parties and movements, trade union organisations and various other social groups.
