Opinion shared in parliament on restoring relations with Syria

The opinions of the deputies were divided on Wednesday on the restoration of diplomatic relations with Syria.

A motion to restore relations with this country and reopen the Syrian embassy in Tunis was presented last April by four parliamentary blocs.

Planned for the plenary session which started on Tuesday, looking at the motion has to be postponed given the extension of the discussions of the scheduled bills (the first on the independent constitutional authorities and the second on good governance and fight against Corruption).

On April 13, members of parliamentary blocs presented a draft motion for the restoration of diplomatic relations with Syria. The motion, signed by four presidents of parliamentary groups (Al-Horra, the Popular Front, Free Patriotic Union and Afek Tounes), was proposed by the deputies who visited Syria as part of efforts to restore relations with Syria.

The delegation in question consisted of Mbarka Aouania, Mongi Rahoui, Abdelaziz Kotti, Khemaies Ksila, Issam Mattoussi, Sahbi Ben Frej and Noureddine Mrabti.
