OTDDPH, HI ink partnership agreement to promote rights of persons with disabilities in Bizerte

A partnership agreement was recently inked by the Tunisian Organisation for the Defence of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (OTDDPH) and the Humanity and Inclusion (HI) organisation, to promote the rights of persons with disabilities in Bizerte governorate, as part of phase II of the “Emploi et Handicap” (Employment and Disability) project.

This agreement targets about 38 thousand persons with disabilities in the region of Bizerte and aims to facilitate their economic and professional integration and to promote social and solidarity economy and community coroporations, OTDDPH President Yousri Mzati indicated to TAP.

It also seeks to enact the law on recruitment of persons with diabilities in the civil service, encourage the setting-up of personal projects and make economic enterprises aware of the available tax incentives when recruiting persons with disabilities.

Mzati further indicated that this agreement will be generalised nationwide in the next 6 months, specifying that Tunisia currently counts 438 holders of the disability according to the Social Affairs Ministry’s latest data.
