Othman Jerandi has phone conversation with his Bahraini counterpart

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Othman Jerandi, Wednesday, had a telephone call with his Bahraini counterpart Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani

Tackling the situation in Tunisia following the measures announced by President of the Republic Kais Saied, Jerandi pointed out that they are were taken based on Article 80 of the Tunisian Constitution.

Quoted in a statement from the Foreign Ministry Ministry, Jerandi said these measures were meant to preserve the country’s security and stability considering the tense political climate, the economic and social crises as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The exceptional measures announced by the President of the Republic, in response to the calls of Tunisian citizens, will help rectify the democratic process in the country and anchor the principles of human rights, the rule of law and freedoms “.

The Bahraini Foreign Minister said “he understood the set of decisions made by President Kais Saied”, expressing Bahrain’s support to Tunisia and its leadership at this critical time in its endeavours “to continue its democratic process.”
