Oti Region MDCEs Welcome Mid-Year Budget Review with Optimism

Accra: MDCEs in the Oti Region have welcomed the mid-year budget review, commending government efforts to support infrastructure, education, and healthcare through strategic resource allocation. The MDCEs expressed optimism that the budgetary allocations would spur development in the region, particularly the construction of roads, schools, and health facilities.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Prosper Kwaku Addo, MCE for Krachi West, expressed satisfaction that the region's road network was captured in the budget. "I was excited when Dr. Ato Forson mentioned our road network in the Oti Region," he said. Mr. Joseph Awal Antwi, MCE for Nkwanta South, highlighted the inclusion of sections of the Eastern Corridor roads, specifically the Dodi-Pepesu-Nkwanta-Kpassa stretch, in the mid-year budget presentation.

Mr. Isaiah Kudjo Dordoe, DCE for Nkwanta North, noted that several pressing needs of the Oti Region were reflected in the budget. "Residents in Oti are direct beneficiaries, with many of our challenges captured," he told the GNA. Mr. Martin Kofi Anato, DCE for Krachi Nchumuru, expressed confidence in the government's 'Big Push' programme, which includes plans to construct a bridge over the River Oti to improve connectivity between districts.

"The mid-year budget was for the whole country, but it is reassuring that Krachi West and Nchumuru will be better linked when the bridge is completed," he noted. Mr. Eric Kwaku Frimpong, DCE for Biakoye, called on Ghanaians to support President John Dramani Mahama in mobilising more funds to get contractors back on site. The MDCEs expressed confidence in the government's commitment to fulfilling its promises.

"Mahama always keeps his promises. We believe what the Finance Minister said about Oti will be fulfilled," one DCE remarked. Several DCEs also appreciated the timely release of the District Assembly Common Fund, with one stating that they had received the first tranche and expected the second soon.
