7,850 incoming travellers to Tunisia have been subjected to mandatory quarantine in the centres reserved for this purpose from the end of last August to January 23, chairman of the quarantine commission Mohamed Rabhi said.
He pointed out in a statement to TAP that out of 7,100 persons who arrived to Tunisia without a vaccination passport and were placed in quarantine between August 27 and January 27, 40 were carriers of the coronavirus and were isolated from the others until their full recovery.
Rabhi added that rapid tests conducted between December 30 and to date at border crossing points have revealed 750 coronavirus carriers despite the presentation of a vaccination passport. 650 of them have already recovered.
The Health Ministry had announced in a press release on January 20, that the quarantine period is 5 days if the result of the PCR test carried out in a laboratory is positive and will be extended to 7 days in case of persistent symptoms.
Resumption of work after that period is mandatory without a negative PCR test.
Fully vaccinated persons should carry their vaccination passport and a negative PCR test performed 48 hours before check-in or a negative rapid test (TDR-AG) performed 24 hours before check-in.
They must respect the 5-day self-quarantine period if the test carried out at random on arrival is positive.
Persons who have not completed their vaccination scheme must have a negative PCR test or a negative rapid test (TDR-AG) performed 24 hours prior to check-in, in addition to a voucher attesting to the booking and payment of a 5-day stay in a mandatory quarantine centre.
After a five-day quarantine, if the second test is negative, the quarantine period is extended to seven days, the press release added.
The ministry further specified that people coming to Tunisia for medical treatment must have prior authorisation from the competent authorities, in addition to the measures previously announced.
All passengers, without exception, must, before travelling to Tunisia, register on the platform www.app.e7mi.tn and download the document to sign and present it at check-in.
The Ministry stresses that any person who violates these measures will be punished by the law in accordance with the provisions of Article 312 of the Penal Code and the measures in force.
