Over one thousand women have already benefited from empowerment programme launched early 2017 (Laabidi)

Some 1243 women have already benefited from the empowerment programme launched early 2017 by the Ministry of Women, Family and Children and aiming to reach 8,000 beneficiaries before the end of 2020, said Monday Minister of Women Naziha Laabidi.

The minister spoke on the sidelines of the opening of the two-day regional delegate regular conference on women and family in Hammamet.

She encouraged regional officials to encourage this programme by allowing women to launch their own projects through microcredit and other services.

She also pointed out that 2017 had been declared a national year of children and was in line with the multidisciplinary strategy for children covering the period 2017-2020, recalling the recent creation of the “Toufoulati” fund for the promotion of projects for children, including the creation of a kindergarten in each neighbourhood.

The Ministry is also improving the control and distribution of kindergartens and the rate of integration of children, which currently does not exceed 64%. Surveillance cameras will be installed in early childhood facilities, the minister said.

She also mentioned the programme for the protection of street children and awareness programme for the fight against domestic child labour recently launched by her department.
