TEMA: The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has donated two water storage tanks, each with a capacity of ten thousand liters, to the Padmore electoral area in Tema Community One. The donation aims to provide a reliable supply of clean water to residents during periods when the Ghana Water Company curtails water distribution. According to Ghana News Agency, the donation was presented by Mr. Kennedy Monarh, Principal Marketing and Corporate Affairs Officer of GPHA, to Mr. Charles Amos, the Assemblyman of the Padmore electoral area. Mr. Monarh explained that this initiative is part of GPHA's corporate social responsibility efforts, which focus on transforming the lives of community members in areas where the organization operates. He emphasized that access to potable water is crucial for preventing waterborne diseases and maintaining public health. Mr. Monarh noted that the GPHA responded to an appeal from the Assemblyman regarding the community's urgent need for water storage solutions. He reiterated the authority's commitment to the well-being of Ghanaians, particularly in ensuring access to clean water to enhance health, sanitation, and overall quality of life in Tema. Mr. Amos expressed gratitude to GPHA for the donation, highlighting that although his initial request was for one tank, the authority provided two. He described the contribution as a significant improvement given the ongoing water challenges, which have forced residents to rely on private water sellers or sachet water. The Assemblyman revealed that the tanks would be integrated with the Ghana Water Company Limited's supply system, requiring bill payments, and strategically positioned to serve different sites within the community. Mr. Amos assured that the tanks would be maintained to ensure long-term benefits for future generations.
