Pakistan’s FM in Tunisia, February 13-15

Pakistan’s Foreign Affairs Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif is paying a two-day working visit to Tunisia (February 13-15) at the invitation of Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui.

This is the first visit of a senior official since the 2003 visit of former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, the Foreign Ministry pointed out in a statement published on Tuesday.

Jhinaoui will co-chair with his Pakistani counterpart works of the 9th Tunisian-Pakistani Joint Commission.

Both ministers will chair the inking of several co-operation agreements and memorandums of understanding in the agricultural, banking, legal, small- and medium-sized enterprises fields.

This visit is a propitious occasion to reaffirm the mutual will to reinforce political and economic co-operation given the opportunities provided, the ministry indicated.

It will further help exchange points of view and review regional and international issues of mutual interest, the statement added.

The previous Tunisian-Pakistani Joint Commission was held on September 2012 in Islamabad along with the 2nd session of political consultations under the chairmanship of secretaries of state to both countries’ foreign ministries.
