Accra: Nana Adwoapo Dwamena Serwaa II, the Paramount Queen-mother of the Bechem Traditional Area in the Ahafo Region, has expressed her commendation to the government for establishing a new office of the Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA) in the area. The Queen-mother highlighted that the chiefs and residents would remain appreciative of this development, acknowledging the Bechem Traditional Council’s provision of land for the DVLA to construct a permanent office to improve service delivery.
According to Ghana News Agency, Nana Serwaa II made these remarks at the inauguration ceremony of the DVLA office in Bechem, the capital of the Tano South Municipality. She mentioned that the Council is in the process of finalizing all necessary documentation and plans to hand over the land to the Municipal Assembly shortly. She assured the Council’s dedication to supporting the government’s efforts in advancing the municipality’s development.
She also commended Mr. Charles Asiedu, the Member of Parliament for the area, for his dedication to the comprehensive development of the region. Mr. Asiedu, during his address, stated, “I promised to ensure that an office of the DVLA is opened here during my 2024 electioneering campaign and that is what you are witnessing today.” He thanked the chiefs and residents for their cooperation and support, promising to work tirelessly to ensure the municipality receives its due share of national resources.
Mr. Asiedu further praised Mr. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, the Tano South Municipal Chief Executive, for his efforts in promoting the area’s development. In addition, Mr. Julius Neequaye Kotey, the Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA, advised the authority’s personnel to maintain professionalism in their duties. He emphasized that discipline is crucial in ensuring road safety and urged drivers to adhere to safety regulations to reduce road accidents and avoid unnecessary fatalities.
