The House of People’s Representatives (HPR) passed at a plenary session Tuesday two draft laws approving two loan agreements between Tunisia and the African Development Bank (AfDB), for the contribution to funding the project of valorisation of irrigated perimeters through the development of value chains in the governorates of Kairouan, Kasserine and Sidi-Bouzid.

This project aims to develop rural areas and mitigate regional disparities, through the development of irrigated perimeters in the central governorates and the development of value chains.

It will directly benefit 3,558 people and 20 thousand people indirectly.

The overall cost of the project is Euros 59.7 million (excluding taxes), or 157.7 million dinars.

The AfDB contribution amounts to Euros 28.197 million (47.2%), while AGTF’s (Africa Growing Together Fund) contribution is in the order of Euros 10.429 million (17.5%).

The Special Agricultural Development Fund (FOSDA) will contribute Euros 7.814 million (13.1%) and the state budget Euros 6.874 million (11.5%).

The contribution of the beneficiaries is estimated at Euros 6.393 million (10.7%).
