The Tunisian Post signed a partnership agreement with the Universal Postal Union (UPU) to implement a project to set up an African e-commerce platform “Ecom @ Africa.”

According to a Communication Technologies and Digital Economy Ministry press release Wednesday, this agreement aims to reinforce partnership fields between the two organisations in order to create a special logistics application for the north African region which will help sharing postal items related to the e-commerce field.

It also stipulates the support of SMEs at national level through the development of the intelligent digital system for the storage, processing and distribution of postal items at national and North African levels.

The agreement is part of the Ecom @ Africa project, following the visit by the official delegation of the Universal Postal Union and the announcement of Tunisia’s accession to the project last January.

The Tunisian Post also signed on Tuesday a partnership agreement with the Turkish Post, to develop and increase co-operation fields between the two institutions, notably with regard to the exchange of postal parcels and correspondence related to e-commerce.

A twinning agreement was also signed between the Tunisian Post Museum and the Turkish Post.
