The Free Destoutien Party (PDL) affirmed its refusal of the presidential decree 117 dated September 22, 2021 insofar as, according to the party, this text enshrines the monopoly of power and destroys the concept of the Republic.
In a statement, the party denounces the fact that the President of the Republic “exploited the joy of Tunisians expressed on July 25 to put his hand on the workings of the state and begin the implementation of his own programme.”
It said this is done without regard to popular expectations such as the ending the rule of the Brotherhood, fight against corruption, improvement of the economic and social situation and resolution of the acute financial crisis.
The PDL calls on the President of the Republic to place the general interest above all considerations and to hasten the formation of a government of experts away from the logic of allegiance.
The party, which had supported the July measures, called again on the President of the Republic to interact positively with MPs who had offered their signatures to facilitate the dissolution of the parliament, through a constitutional mechanism and holding snap parliamentary elections.
