PDL to continue sit-in outside headquarters of International Union of Muslim Scholars

The Free Destourian Party (PDL) has decided to continue the sit-in they have been holding for two months outside the headquarters of the International Union of Muslim Scholars in Tunis.

The party warns the authorities against «using any form of violence against the sit-inners or any attempt to dislodge them under the pretext of the epidemic situation.»

In response to the new wave of COVID-19 infections, the Prime Ministry has decided to ban all gatherings in public and private places, whether closed or open, for two weeks. A night time curfew from 10 pm to 5 am has also been decreed.

The PDL called in a statement Thursday to shut down and suspend the activities of the Tunis office of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, which it described as a «terrorist organisation affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood,»

Members of the PDL have been holding a sit-in outside the headquarters of the International Union of Muslim Scholars in Tunis since November 2020, demanding its closure.
