PEOPLE CLOSE TO BOMB ATTACKER IN BERLIN ARRESTED IN TUNISIA

Officials from the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior arrested three people related to the perpetrator of the attack in Berlin this week.

According to a statement from that ministry, among those arrested is a nephew of Anis Amri, the Berlin terrorist who was subsequently killed by the police in Milan, Italy.

The detainees, aged between 18 and 28, according to the text, were detained in operations carried out in the village of Fuchana, near Tunis, as well as in Queslatia, Amri’s birthplace.

The three men were accused of belonging to a terrorist organization, the ministry said.

According to the statement, Amri’s nephew admitted having been in touch with his uncle and sworn allegiance to the Islamic State.

Amri had also sent money to his nephew to join a terrorist cell in Germany headed by a Muslim extremist named Abu Alaa.

Last week, Amri drove a truck into a crowd in Berlin, killing 12 people and wounding more than 50, an action for which the Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility.
