Accra: Plan B FM, in collaboration with Tema Parents Association School, has hosted the inaugural Osagyefo Day Out for children in commemoration of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's 116th birthday. The event attracted participants from over 20 schools within the Tema Metropolis, providing a platform for celebration and learning through various engaging activities.

According to Ghana News Agency, the students participated in activities such as watching documentaries and competing in an inter-school quiz competition involving 10 schools, including Tema Parents Association School and St. Steven Anglican. Mrs. Comfort Aniagyei, CEO of Free Minds Communication Company Limited and Plan B FM, highlighted that the event's purpose was to honor Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's significant contributions to Ghana's independence and development.

Mrs. Aniagyei emphasized the importance of commemorating September 21st as a Memorial Day to reflect on Dr. Nkrumah's achievements in education, industrialization, and liberation from mental slavery. She encouraged children to adopt Dr. Nkrumah's attributes of hard work, leadership, patriotism, and inspiration, noting that the initiative aims to provide positive role models for the youth annually.

She expressed gratitude to partners such as Tema Parents Association School, the Ghana Education Service, and others for their support in organizing the event. Madam Dorcia Amaku Soyoo Ocansey, CEO of Tema Parents Association School, underlined the educational benefits of the program, which aligns with the social studies curriculum by teaching children about past leaders.

Lieutenant Commander George Mawuli Ayer from the Eastern Naval Command engaged students on the roles of the Ghana Navy, while students like Ms. Emerald Ofosu and Master Emmanuel Opoku shared their inspirations drawn from Dr. Nkrumah's legacy. The event also featured entertainment, including a performance by Dr. Cryme.
