Plenary session to discuss extension of IVD mandate will resume Monday (Ennaceur)

After several attempts to continue the plenary session devoted to examining the extension of the mandate of the Truth and Dignity Commission, it was decided to continue the work of the session next Monday.

Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives (HPR), Mohamed Ennaceur, decided to adjourn the meeting and continue the work on Monday following a proposal by Noureddine Bhiri, chairman of the Ennahdha parliamentary group.

The presidents of the other groups approved the proposal of Noureddine Bhiri, considering that the atmosphere very tense in the hemicycle was not favourable to continue the debate. They asked that the work continue Monday, “without any tensions”.

Saturday’s plenary session started in a tense atmosphere before being interrupted many times. The dispute concerned the procedures for counting the presence of Members.
