PM meets in Washington with members of House Foreign Affairs Committee

Premier Youssef Chahed Tuesday met in Washington with members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

The latter said Tunisia’s democratic experience is a model to be followed by the region’s countries.

They also hailed ties binding the two countries for more than two centuries now as well as security and parliamentary cooperation, in particular.

The Congressmen expressed, in this vein, readiness to increase cooperation between the two countries’ legislative bodies and support the maintaining of US aid to Tunisia.

A delegation of Republicans and Democrats led by member of the House Democracy Partnership Vern Buchanan recently visited Tunisia.

The Congressmen told President Beji Caid Essebsi the US is fully committed to underpinning Tunisia’s development efforts.

Buchanan commended the steps made by Tunisia on the pathway to democracy.
