Police and Military Collaborate to Address Security Crisis in Bawku

ACCRA: The Ghana Police Service has announced a joint effort with the Ghana Armed Forces to stabilize a deteriorating security situation in Bawku, following a deadly attack on the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway. Unidentified gunmen killed eight individuals and torched multiple vehicles, prompting an urgent response from security forces. According to Ghana News Agency, the violent incident occurred near Gbimsi, a community close to Walewale, on Sunday. In response, the police have increased their presence alongside military forces in Bawku and its surrounding areas. A combined Police and Military team has also been deployed along the Bolgatanga-Walewale-Tamale highway to enhance security and manage traffic flow. The police issued a statement assuring the public of their commitment to maintaining peace, security, law, and order in the affected regions. The joint efforts aim to restore stability and prevent further incidents as investigations into the attack continue.
