Police Arrest Alleged Drug Dealer with Significant Cache of Indian Hemp

Accra: The Ghana Police Service has successfully apprehended an individual suspected of possessing 92 slabs of a substance believed to be Indian hemp. This arrest was executed through an intelligence-led operation in the Volta Region.

According to Ghana News Agency, Bukari Yakubu was taken into custody at his Akatsi residence at approximately 0100 hours on Saturday. This arrest followed a period of surveillance by police on the suspect, who is alleged to have been involved in narcotics distribution within Akatsi and neighboring areas.

During a search of Yakubu's residence, authorities discovered 92 slabs of the suspected Indian hemp, carefully wrapped in yellowish material. Additionally, two Royal motorbikes, believed to be stolen, were also seized. Preliminary questioning led the suspect to admit ownership of these items.

Yakubu is currently detained and cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The police have announced plans to present him before the court as the investigation progresses.
