The arrest occurred on Wednesday. According to Ghana News Agency, Chief Superintendent Charles Addae Boateng revealed that the police intervened despite the absence of a formal complaint from the victim. The assault took place on October 12, after Esther, who is an apprentice hairdresser, came home around 10:00 PM, only to discover that her father, Nana Amoah, had locked her out, suspecting that she had been with a boyfriend. After being locked out, Esther managed to break into the house at about 3:00 AM but was then subjected to a severe beating by her father.
