Aflao: The Volta Regional Police Command has arrested four individuals in connection with the death of a mobile money vendor in Aflao, located in the Volta Region. The incident occurred on April 28, 2025.
According to Ghana News Agency, the suspects, identified as Michael Sewornu, 34, Korku Agboada, 43, Atsu Agbagla, 36, and Utsuku Onyeso, 22, a Nigerian national, were apprehended on May 10. A press release from Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Felix Danku, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, detailed the arrest operation. The Volta Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID), in collaboration with the Police SWAT Unit, Operation Motherland Taskforce, and ‘ACTION NOW’, a Community Watch Committee in Aflao, conducted a joint intelligence-led operation to apprehend the suspects.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with the investigation. The case dates back to April 28, 2025, when approximately five unidentified robbers attacked and fatally shot Christopher Ahordo, a mobile money vendor, at Gbagblakope, near the Diamond Cement Factory in Aflao. The assailants fled the scene with a bag believed to contain the vendor’s business proceeds.
The police have emphasized the importance of public vigilance and urged citizens to collaborate with law enforcement by providing credible and timely information about criminal activities to enhance police operations.
