Presentation in Rome of Water Strategy 2030 and study “Water 2050 in Tunisia”

Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Samir Taieb, on Tuesday, presented the Tunisian experience in the field of water and presented the Water Strategy 2030, as well as the strategic study “Water 2050 Tunisia “during the 40th session of the Conference of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), which is currently taking place in Rome, Italy.

On the sidelines of his participation in the ministerial session, on the theme “fighting water scarcity and improving food security in the face of climate change: a view from the region of the East and north of Africa “, Taieb called on the different countries to opt for the exchange of experiences and to devise a common strategy to deal with this phenomenon.

According to a statement published Tuesday by The Ministry, a high-level meeting was held between the FAO Director-General, the Secretary-General of the Federation of Arab Countries and Ministers and representatives of the delegations of the region. The meeting was marked by a ministerial debate on the challenges of climate change, water scarcity and its implications for agriculture, food security and food in the Arab region.

The 40th Session of the FAO Conference, which takes place from July 3 to 8, 2017, was inaugurated by Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni. It focuses on the theme “Climate change, agriculture and food security” and proposes to examine the international situation of food and agriculture.

The conference will study the legal, administrative and financial axes of the FAO as well as the activities related to the reforms of the administration of the organisation.
