President Akufo-Addo Seeks Support for Bawumia’s Campaign During Northern Region Visit

Tamale: President Nana Akufo-Addo has expressed gratitude to stakeholders in the Northern Region for their continued support and played a significant role in his government's success. During a meeting in Tamale with heads of department and other key figures, he also sought support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's upcoming presidential campaign. According to Ghana News Agency, President Akufo-Addo used the opportunity to endorse Dr. Bawumia's bid in this year's general election, emphasizing the importance of continuity for their party's vision and policies. "I urge you to extend the same level of support and cooperation to Dr. Bawumia. Your backing is crucial in ensuring the continuation of our party's vision and policies," he stated. The president's visit to Tamale was part of a broader "thank you tour," which included a stop at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi to meet with Ya-Na Abukari (II), the Overlord of Dagbon. He thanked the Ya-Na for his support during his tenure and expressed pleasure over the p eace that has prevailed in the Dagbon Traditional Area since Ya-Na Abukari's enskinment. In response, Ya-Na Abukari (II) praised President Akufo-Addo for his leadership and commitment to reconciliation and peace in the region. The endorsement of Dr. Bawumia by President Akufo-Addo is seen as a significant step in solidifying support for the Vice President's campaign within the ruling party and across the Northern Region, a key area in Ghanaian politics.
