President Kaïs Saïed met Tuesday at Carthage Palace with Saudi Minister of Interior Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef.
The senior Saudi official expressed Saudi Arabia’s readiness to further consolidate and expand the cooperative relations with Tunisia in the security field.
He also conveyed to the Head of State the fraternal greetings of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salmane and their firm determination to continue supporting Tunisia and standing by its side, the Presidency said in a statement.
The Saudi leaders are convinced of Tunisia’s ability to overcome the difficulties it faces and believe that the security and stability of Tunisia and Saudi Arabia are same, the Saudi minister stressed.
For his part, the Head of State commended the fraternal relations between the two countries, which have been strengthened by the airbridge launched by Saudi Arabia to support Tunisia in its fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.
Furthermore, Saied highlighted the promising and varied horizons to further consolidate bilateral cooperation relations in order to meet the common challenges of both countries and build a better future for the two peoples.
He also praised the level of bilateral cooperation in the military and security fields, reiterating Tunisia’s willingness to foster and expand cooperation in these two areas.
President Saied expressed Tunisia’s readiness to continue consultations with Saudi Arabia to fight terrorism, extremism and organised crime and address the root causes of these phenomena.
Tunisia is hosting on Wednesday the 39th session of the Council of the Arab Ministers of the Interior. High security delegations, representatives of the Arab League, the Maghreb Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council will take part in the meeting.
