President Kaïs Saïed Receives Message from Congolese President on Strengthening African Unity

Carthage: President Kaïs Saïed met with Crispin Mbadu Phanzu, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of Francophonie and the Congolese Diaspora of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, at Carthage Palace. The meeting involved the delivery of a written message from Congolese President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo. According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, Juliana Amato Lumumba, daughter of the late African leader Patrice Lumumba, was also present during the meeting. The Tunisian presidency issued a statement recalling the historical connections between Tunisia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, such as the involvement of Tunisian forces in UN peacekeeping operations in the Katanga region. President Saïed highlighted the dream of the founding fathers of the Organisation of African Unity, which aimed at achieving unity among African states post-colonial rule. He remarked on the rapid unfolding of events that have altered this vision, turning it into a challenging pursuit d espite the continent's rich resources. The President emphasized the need for a new world vision based on justice and freedom, beyond formalized notions of equality or hierarchical distinctions among nations. He concluded by urging Africans to actively shape their future and history, rather than remaining passive victims of historical events.
