President of Republic congratulates Tunisian people on advent of Ramadan

President Beji Caid Essebsi voiced wish to see the Tunisian economy reach 3% growth by the end of this year, in a televised address Wednesday night on Watania 1 on the occasion of the advent of the holy month from Ramadan.

The head of state recalled that Tunisia has achieved 2.5% growth in the first quarter of 2018 “despite the difficulties of the country”, while it was 1.9% year last.

The President of the Republic said that Tunisia welcomes this year the month of Ramadan after an important political event, that of municipal elections, which he described as “great achievement for Tunisia and a strengthening of its democratic process.”

“The whole world pays tribute to this achievement and I hope that it will meet the aspirations of the Tunisian people for a decent life and improved purchasing power,” said the head of state, indicating that the government has taken “all steps to achieve this objective”.

On the latest developments in the Palestinian cause, Beji Caid Essebi pointed out that the advent of Ramadan coincides this year with the 70th anniversary of the Nakba, the transfer of the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Al Quds and the dozens of martyrs and hundreds of Palestinian wounded by Israeli occupation forces.

He reiterated Tunisia’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and its support for the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the building of their state with Al Quds as the capital.

“We urge nations to support the Palestinian people in the face of the boundless arrogance of Israel backed by great powers in the world,” the president added.

Caid Essesbi extended his warm congratulations to the Tunisian people and the entire Islamic nation on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
