Carthage: President of the Republic Kais Saed convened with the team addressing the environmental crisis in Gab¨s to discuss the implementation of strategic solutions. A series of “immediate solutions” were proposed, as stated by the Presidency in a press release. The President is closely monitoring the situation, commending the local community for their awareness and patriotism.
According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, President Saed praised the team’s ongoing efforts and stressed the importance of integrating proposed solutions into a strategic framework addressing Tunisia’s environmental challenges. He pointed out that the severity of the crisis could have been mitigated with timely maintenance and renewal of equipment, attributing the oversight to corruption and politically motivated hiring practices.
The President highlighted intentions to privatise the Tunisian Chemical Group (CGT) and other public enterprises, criticizing the lack of transparency in tender processes. In response to the urgent environmental issues, President Saed reaffirmed his dedication to resolving the crisis, emphasizing the Tunisian people’s right to a clean and healthy environment.
He instructed to support the team in Gab¨s to complete their report and begin implementing measures to address the crisis in the governorate. President Saed urged the nation to prioritize the country’s supreme interests and remain vigilant against conspiracies, ensuring Tunisia’s resilience against external and internal threats.
