President Saïed Vows Zero Tolerance for Speculation and Monopoly Targeting Farmers

Carthage: President Kais Saïed, Thursday, had a meeting, at Carthage Palace, with Interior Minister Khaled Nouri and Finance Minister Mechket Slama Khaldi. According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, the meeting focused on the need to reduce bureaucratic hurdles facing farmers. The Head of State called for simplifying procedures related to the transport, marketing, and storage of agricultural products to ensure smooth and efficient operations. President Saïed expressed regret over the persistence of outdated administrative procedures that continue to pose real challenges to small farmers who are often asked to submit decade-old documents or pay unjustified taxes. After condemning what he described as "paralyzing bureaucracy," the President called for implementing immediate measures to eliminate such unjustified practices. He reiterated that "Tunisia is a state that is governed by laws," adding that "building trust again between citizens and the administration is among the key challenges for the coming period ." While denouncing certain lobbies who seek to erode public confidence within state institutions, President Saïed urged both central and regional authorities to fully assume their responsibilities. He underscored that "the State will spare no effort to protect farmers from speculation as well as monopoly."
