A presidential decree imposing the COVID-19 vaccine pass was published on Friday in the Official Gazette of the Tunisian Republic (JORT).
The 11-article decree states in its first article that the vaccine pass is granted to all Tunisians or foreign residents aged 18 and over who have completed their jab scheme.
It can also be given to fully vaccinated persons under the age of 18, as well as to foreigners arriving to Tunisia and Tunisians holding a vaccine pass issued abroad.
Article 2 sets out the premises where the showing of a vaccine pass is mandatory. These include the services and seats of State institutions, local authorities and public, educational, university and vocational training institutions, as well as nurseries, kindergartens and public and private Koranic schools.
The vaccine pass is also requested for access to social centres, public and private hospitals and health centres, cafés, restaurants and all categories of shops and tourist units, as well as spaces open to the public and venues devoted to leisure, festivals, exhibitions, meetings and cultural, artistic, scientific and religious events.
Article 6 covers the penalties in the event of not showing a vaccine pass by public and private sector workers and offenders.
It provides for the immediate suspension of State, local authorities, public institutions and establishments employees, as well as the suspension of the employment contract of private sector employees until the vaccine pass is displayed. The suspension period is not remunerated, the article specifies.
