Prime Minister Najla Bouden met, on Tuesday in Kasbah, with British Minister of State for the Commonwealth and United Nations for South Asia Central Asia and North Africa Lord Tariq Ahmad.
The meeting discussed ways to consolidate the partnership between Tunisia and the United Kingdom in various areas, mainly in renewable energy and sustainable development.
It also made it possible to explore new opportunities for cooperation in the fields of education, higher education, scientific research, training of human resources, the circular economy, the green economy, the blue economy and tourism.
The Head of Government welcomed the continued support provided by the United Kingdom to Tunisia, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She emphasised her willingness to consolidate the cooperative relations between Tunisia and the United Kingdom by pursuing the implementation of new projects and joint programmes, such as the “Second Chance School”.
For his part, the British Minister of State emphasised his country’s determination to further strengthen the cooperation relations with Tunisia in various sectors, including renewable energy. “That sector that represents a priority for both countries,” he pointed out.
He said “the United Kingdom stands by Tunisia” and supports its efforts to implement political, economic and social reforms planned and those aimed at “launching negotiations with the International Monetary Fund.”
The meeting took place in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Othman Jerandi, and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Tunisia, Helen Winterton.
