Prime Ministry: series of measures in favour of Tunisian expatriates

A series of measures were taken to ensure the return of Tunisian expatriates in the best possible conditions, following a series of ministerial working sessions presided over by Prime Minister Youssef Chahed.

At these meetings attended by MPs representing Tunisians abroad, it was agreed to:

1/- Develop formalities for transport, reception and administrative services. It was decided in this context to:

-Schedule 258 flights, i.e. an additional 40 thousand seats.

-33 % off in ticket prices (for children aged 0-18 years) and 25% off (for young people aged 19-26 years) are scheduled.

– Offer 100 free tickets to limited-income families residing abroad.

– Grant Tunisians expatriates the possibility of carrying two pieces of luggage of a total weight of 32 kg in addition to one piece of luggage of 10 kg.

– Schedule 150 maritime trips.

– Provide them with a toll-free number to provide them with all necessary information and to report cases of infringements.

– Create offices at the Interior Ministry to facilitate obtaining of civil documents.

2 / – Strengthen the participation of Tunisians abroad in the various programmes and cultural events. In this sense, it was decided in particular to:

– Enjoy a 50% discount on summer festivals ticket prices.

– Enjoy free admission to museums and historical monuments

– Allow 100, 000 young people residing abroad to participate in the summer tourism programme “Tounes Darna” which is held until the end of December 2017.

– To pay 70% of the expenses of studies of Tunisian students abroad wishing to attend Arabic courses at the Bourguiba Institute of Modern Languages. Accommodation and food costs will also be covered.

– Launch a programme of Arabic language teaching for Tunisian students residing in non-Arab countries.

3 / – Strengthen the participation of Tunisians abroad in the development of their native country through:

– The organisation of the annual forum of Tunisians abroad in late July. The meeting will discuss the investment opportunities in Tunisia and the tax and financial advantages offered to the Tunisian diaspora.

– The possibility of opening accounts in foreign currency or in convertible dinars with the Tunisian banks and the National Post Office.

– The supply by the National Post Office of a set of services.
