Priority to be granted to restoring confidence in ISIE, says Mohamed Tlili Mansri

Priority will be granted to restoring confidence in the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE), making a success of the 2018 municipal elections and finishing off the democratic process, said ISIE newly-elected President Mohamed Tlili Mansri.

For the forthcoming period, the authority should have as an absolute priority the successful conduct of the legislative bye-elections in Germany, the upcoming municipal elections and the completion of the democratic process, he pointed out in a statement to TAP on Tuesday.

He underlined that the effort will focus on settling the situation of employees in fragile situation, filling up vacancies and carrying out recruitments for the ISIE central management.

Besides, the ISIE newly-elected President denied any disagreements with the ISIE Council members, assuring that internal relationships are based on mutual respect.

Mohamed Tlili Mansri was elected president of the ISIE with 115 votes. Najla Brahem collected 49 votes and Anis Jarboui 5 votes, while Farouk Bouasker and Anouar Ben Hassan obtained no votes.

The House of Peoples’ Representatives (HPR) had previously failed four times to elect the president of ISIE who needed to obtain an absolute majority (109 votes).
