Prize award ceremony of 1st edition of best Tunisian extra virgin olive oil competition

The National Olive Office (ONH) presented, on Friday, the prizes to the winners of the first edition of the competition for the best Tunisian extra virgin olive oil organised in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, as part of the programme for improving the quality of olive oil.

In total, 20 producers of extra virgin olive oil participated in this contest in 4 categories, namely intense green fruit, medium green fruity, fruity light green and fruity wall, the ONH says on its website.

It is an opportunity to encourage producers, packagers and traders to improve the quality of the olive oil offered for sale, which is able to boost its competitiveness and improve its positioning on international markets, especially since Tunisia has recently received several international awards in the field of olive oil.

Tunisia had recently announced that it exported about 88 thousand tonnes of olive oil during the period from November 2017 to February 2018, which represents about 40% of the quantities intended for export, for the current season.
