Proposal to create committee tasked with monitoring decisions and recommendations issued from RMC under study (Mekni)

Secretary General of the Government Hedi Mekni met Friday with ministries’ Chiefs of Staff to optimise the performance of government action and improve co-odination on issues submitted to restricted ministerial councils (RMCs).

Mekni told reporters an assessment of government action helped reveal that certain files submitted to RMCs are incomplete which hinders their processing.

Proper functioning of government action requires a thorough examination of files, good co-ordination between the concerned ministries, identification of problems and finding the possible solutions, he noted.

He further insisted on implementing decisions taken during RMCs in short and realistic deadlines. In this respect, a proposal to create a committee charged with monitoring decisions and recommendations issued from ministerial working sessions is under study, he said.

Mekni highlighted the importance of the joint action between the different ministerial departments to tackle cross-cutting issues and find solutions with the intervention of the Prime Ministry only in extreme cases.

This meeting is the first of its kind and others are scheduled in the future.
