The Public Prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in Sfax ordered a judicial investigation into reasons for and circumstances behind the piling up of household waste in the city for over a month.
The investigation comes after the outcry about the problem of household waste littering streets of the city, without a solution being in sight, which led to the deterioration of the environmental situation in the region, said spokesperson for the courts of Sfax Mourad Triki.
Faced with this situation, a collective of organisations active in the region filed a complaint, on November 4, against the National Agency for Waste Management (ANGED), the Ministry of Environment, the local city council and the 7 largest municipalities of the city.
