Qatar will soon hire 7,000 Tunisians

Ennahdha MP Maher Madhioub announced on Wednesday the integration this year of 7,000 Tunisians into the Qatari labour market.

“This measure is part of a legislative initiative that had been proposed by 45 deputies to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Employment,” he said, during a press briefing held at the House of People’s Representatives.

The goal being, he said, to double the number of Tunisians working in this country by bringing it to 50 thousand against 23 thousand, currently spread over several sectors such as health, education and sport.

The goal also deals with illegal recruitment methods, announcing that the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training will be hearing, soon, on the case of fictitious employment contracts.

He added that the deputies spoke, recently, with the ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Tunisia who is committed to increase the number of recruitment of Tunisians in his country.

The Ennahdha MP has made a formal request to the Prime Minister to hold a cabinet meeting on Tunisians abroad to facilitate their return to Tunisia during the summer holidays, noting that their contributions in foreign currency are estimated at 5 billion dinars a year.
