The Ministry of Family, Women, Children and the Elderly is set to start distributing Thursday 490 notices of approval across the country, as part of women’s entrepreneurship programme Raidet with nearly TND 3.750 million in funding.
This follows funding approval for new batch of microprojects in 23 governorates, notably Béja (70), Tunis (63), Ben Arous (43), and La Manouba (31). Projects in small trades top the list (73%), followed by others in the service sector (19%), and agriculture ( 8%).
The 36-45 age bracket is the most highly represented in funding recipients (36%), followed by the 18-35 age group (34%) and the 46-59 year-olds (30%), ministry figures show. 60.4% of recipients have professional expertise or have received specialised training, while 39.6% are higher education graduates.
The ministry approved last December the funding of 1,050 women-led projects in 22 governorates with a budget exceeding TND 9.7 million.
The Ministry is implementing Raidet programme in collaboration with the Tunisian Solidarity Bank, La Banque Nationale Agricole and the Bank for Financing Small and Medium-sized Enterprises.
