Rapporteur of Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly starts information visit to Tunis on Monday

Mr. George Loucaides (Cypriot MP) and Rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) starts on Monday an information visit to Tunis as part of the preparation of a report on the political transition situation in Tunisia, according to a press statement of the Council of Europe office in Tunis.

During his four-day visit, Mr. Loucaides will hold talks with the Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Interior and Justice and Minister of Relations with Constitutional Authorities, Civil Society and Human Rights.

The PACE Rapporteur will also have talks with the presidents of parliamentary blocs and parliamentary committees, representatives of independent constitutional authorities, trade unions, the diplomatic community, civil society and media.

Discussions will turn mainly on the progress of the rule of law since the entry into force of the Constitution of January 27, 2014, according to the same source.

The PACE Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy will consider the report by Mr. Loucaides next month.
