Raqqada, Kairouan governorate, can be a major tourist site capable of attracting many visitors throughout the year, said Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts Mohamed Moez Belhassine.

This city is distinguished by its rich cultural and ecological heritage, including the National Museum of Islamic Art, the archaeological site, the palaces of the Aghlabid princes, the equestrian club…

Its cultural and archaeological heritage will be showecased to diversify the tourist offer in the governorate, he added on the fringes of his visit to Kairouan on October 17 and 18.

The department of tourism will coordinate with all the stakeholders, including the local tourism authority, he National Institute of Heritage, the Agency for the Development of Heritage and Cultural Promotion, representatives of the various professional associations and those of the civil society. The aim is to ensure the development and the promotion of the Raqqada site, as well as the diversification of the local tourist product.
