Ratification of ICZM Protocol, focus of advocacy workshop on February 15

An advocacy workshop on the ratification of the Protocol on Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) will be organised on February 15 at the initiative of the Agency for Coastal Protection and Management (APAL) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The workshop will bring together representatives of concerned public structures, experts and MPs to present the protocol, the numerous advantages of its ratification for Tunisia and the legal-institutional gains in terms of ICZM.

It will also offer the occasion to discuss the current situation of the Tunisian law in relation with the ICZM problem and various issues related to the concrete methods of its integration in policies and strategies.

The ICZM Protocol was adopted on January 21, 2008, in Madrid as the 7th additional protocol to the Barcelona Convention for the Protection of the Mediterranean Sea against Pollution and entered into force in 2011.

This initiative is supported by the project: Addressing Climate Change Vulnerabilities and Risks in Vulnerable Coastal Areas of Tunisia, implemented by the APAL and the UNDP.
