The total remittances by Tunisians residing abroad amounted to 8,599 million dinars, mostly (86.9%) from European countries, including France (44.2%), Germany (16.9%) and Italy (13.5%).

The overall amount of foreign currency transfers by Tunisian expats in Arab countries amounted to 885.3 million dinars, or 10.3% of all remittances, with most of them coming from Tunisans residing in Saudi Arabia (4.2%).

The OTE had stated last March that remittances from Tunisians living abroad, which had exceeded 8,599 million dinars in 2021, were spent on the acquisition of housing, services and aid to families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Director General of OTE Mohamed Mansouri had previously indicated that Tunisian expat remittances reached about 5 thousand million dinars until the end of September 2022, up 640 million dinars compared to the same period of 2021.
