Repurposing of Terminal 2 at Kotoka International Airport Progresses Steadily

Accra: Work on repurposing Terminal 2 at Kotoka International Airport is progressing steadily. The project aims to facilitate both domestic and international operations at Terminal 2 to ease pressure on Terminal 3 and maximize unused spaces within the terminal as part of Ghana Airports Company Limited's (GACL) vision to establish Ghana as the preferred aviation hub in West Africa.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, the Managing Director of GACL, plans to have continuous engagements with stakeholders throughout the process. This is to ensure that airlines are ready to operate from the newly repurposed terminal once completed.

On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, GACL conducted a walkthrough with airline representatives to showcase the project's progress. The airlines expressed satisfaction with the work done so far and offered positive feedback towards effective operational readiness, activation, and transition (ORAT) after the project's completion.

The repurposed Terminal 2 is expected to support increasing passenger traffic and congestion at Terminal 3 during peak hours. This initiative will put Terminal 2 into full use as Ghana is poised to receive additional airlines to operate from Kotoka International Airport in the months ahead. The project, upon completion, will be a significant milestone in the ongoing commitment to enhancing passenger experience at the country's airports.
