Hohoe: The Rotary Club of Ho has successfully completed and handed over significant projects to the Precious Pearls Preparatory School situated in the Gbi-Kledzo community within the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta region. These projects include a library stocked with books, an ICT laboratory equipped with computers, and upgraded washroom facilities.
According to Ghana News Agency, the club also developed a mechanised borehole and provided a 1,000-litre Rambo polytank for water storage, addressing the community's need for reliable access to clean water. The total cost of these projects amounted to GH?450,000.
Mr Maxwell Wallahs Affram, President of the Rotary Club of Ho, credited the successful completion of these initiatives to a partnership with the Rotary Club of Northern Allegheny, the House of Hope Ministry from both Ghana and the USA, and the general support from the Rotary Foundation. He emphasized that the borehole project significantly improved health and hygiene, particularly benefiting women and children by securing access to safe water.
Furthermore, the renovation and equipping of the school's computer laboratory and library are expected to enhance educational quality by improving access to modern digital tools and reading materials. Mr Affram highlighted that these improvements aim to empower young minds with necessary skills for future success.
Madam Beth Earich, Founder of House of Hope Ministries, Ghana, commended the Gbi-Kledzo community for their cooperation and discussed the evolution of the Precious Pearls Preparatory School, noting its growth and the scholarship program set up to support local families.
Madam Pearl Tugbe Cudjoe, Country Director of House of Hope Ministries, explained that the difficulty in accessing potable water prompted the support for the borehole project. She also noted that the library and computer lab would provide children with engaging activities during free periods.
Mr Prosper Kumi, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, praised the collaboration, stating the projects would improve access to potable water and enhance educational outcomes. He encouraged community members to maintain the facilities well.
Mr Victor Kweku Kovey, Hohoe Municipal Director of Education, expressed optimism that the projects would enhance learners' educational outcomes and stressed the importance of education in meeting community needs.
Togbe Deh IX, Chief of Gbi-Kledzo, expressed gratitude on behalf of the community to all donors and stakeholders, ensuring the community's commitment to maintaining the facilities for their longevity.
