“I hope the international community listened closely on Saturday when HM King Mohammed VI described the Sahara dispute as an artificial regional conflict,” Dark told MAP-Washington.

“At this very moment, the world is facing many conflicts without any clear outcome, but the Sahara conflict is not one of them,” he added.

The US expert recalled that “for over a decade, Morocco brought to the table a compromise-based autonomy solution supported by the international community.

“It is time for Algeria and Polisario to take a seat at that table” to end this conflict and enable the region and the world to join efforts on real, not artificial, challenges, Dark concluded.
