Sahel-Saharan Bank for Investment and Trade opens office in Tunis

An agreement on the opening of an office of the Sahel-Saharan Bank for Investment and Trade (BSIC) in Tunis was signed on Friday in Tunis.

The new office will seek to introduce the BSIC’s activities and services and establish relations with resident and non-resident economic operators.

The office will also house meetings of the bank’s board of directors or any other committee established by the BSIC to manage its affairs in Tunisia, provided that the Tunisian Government is informed in advance of these meetings.

This branch will also finance projects in Tunisia, after approval of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) and the Ministry of Finance, which will set the conditions of granting credits.

The agreement was signed by Finance Minister Mohamed Ridha Chalghoum and BSIC Board of Directors President Ali Omar Mokhtar.

Founded in 1999, the BSIC is a financial institution of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD). Its objective is to mobilise public and private financial resources to use them in financing the development of the Sahel-Saharan States community.

Tunisia has been a member of BSIC since 2004.
