President of the Republic Kais Saied, on Friday, met with President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola in Brussels.

The Head of State discussed the difficulties faced by Tunisia, addressing the exceptional measures decreed, as well as the decisions related to the next deadlines scheduled for 2022, said a Presidency statement.

He reiterated his commitment to respect the law and his attachment to the values of democracy and human rights. «Tunisia needs strong institutions, capable of carrying out their missions in the best possible way,» he said.

For her part, the President of the European Parliament stressed that relations with Tunisia are a priority, welcoming the status of women and young people in Tunisian society.

She voiced the willingness of the European Parliament to continue cooperation with Tunisia.

The European Parliament is following the developments in Tunisia, Metsola indicated, expressing the wish to see Tunisia overcome its difficulties in order to beef up the achievements and realise the aspirations of the people.
