President Kais Saied tasked Sunday the Directorate General of Military Health “wiith providing the necessary human and material support to the field hospital in Kairouan and expanding it,” reads a Presidency press release.
The Head of State directed to “send biomedical experts to this hospital and support efforts made by the local health directorate to increase the pace of vaccinating elderly people.
These measures were taken as part of the President’s monitoring of the epidemiological situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in Kairouan and other governorates .
A one-week targeted lockdown was decreed in the region as of Monday.
