TAKORADI — The Sao Tome Minister for Infrastructure, Natural Resources, and Environment, Mr. Adelino Cardoso, has visited the Port of Takoradi to evaluate potential business collaborations, seeking to leverage Ghana’s strategic position for transshipment activities.
According to Ghana News Agency, the geographical positioning of Ghana on the Gulf of Guinea presents a prime opportunity for establishing a transshipment route to Sao Tome. This sentiment was expressed during a comprehensive tour of the port's facilities, where Takoradi Port's Director, Mr. Peter Amoo-Bediako, along with the Minister of Transport, Mr. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, showcased several ongoing infrastructure enhancements. Mr. Asiamah expounded on recent expansions which aim to improve the port's capacity for larger vessels and increase efficiency. He proudly referenced the significant upgrades from the original 1920s architecture and outlined the expectations for the multi-purpose terminal, set to begin operations in January, which marks a milestone for maritime trade at Takoradi Port.
